Diversity Drives Innovation: How cubesys Champions Inclusion

At cubesys, the diversity, equity and inclusion principles are integral to our identity and growth. We understand that a diverse leadership and team fuels our creativity and enhances our ability to tackle challenges. By cultivating an environment where innovative ideas can flourish, we empower every team member to contribute their best work.

Why Embracing Diversity Matters?

Research by Gartner shows that inclusive teams can improve performance by up to 30% in high-diversity environments, highlighting the significant impact diversity has on team effectiveness and achieving organisational goals.

Creating an inclusive environment fosters collaboration and open-mindedness. When team members feel valued and empowered to express their thoughts, they engage more meaningfully and contribute their best ideas. This sense of belonging enhances productivity and job satisfaction.

The Role of Leadership

Four years ago, during a pivotal leadership meeting, the stage was set for a remarkable transformation when Paul Heaton, cubesys’ visionary leader, made a statement that would change the company’s trajectory forever.

Paul’s pivotal question, “We need to do better than this, don’t we?” catalysed change, sparking a conscious effort within cubesys to cultivate a diverse set of skills and individuals, with a particular emphasis on increasing the representation of women and individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds in leadership positions.

Championing Women in Tech

While the tech industry as a whole has struggled with gender diversity— with women making up only 38.7% of the technology workforce in Australia — we’re committed to breaking that mould. At cubesys, we have a team that includes some of the brightest and most talented women in tech, making valuable contributions across various aspects of our business.

Women at cubesys are leading the charge in various roles across the business, from leadership positions to technical roles. We believe in creating pathways for women to thrive, and we actively support mentorship and development programs to help them grow in their careers.

Our Marketing Lead, Dr. Astha Singh, a passionate advocate for diversity, volunteered for two years on the advisory board of the Women in Leadership Program in STEM and was a participant in the program for one year. She shares,

Fostering a Supportive cubesys Culture

At cubesys, our commitment to inclusivity extends to our daily interactions and team recognition. Led by Peter Koulinos, our culture committee initiates activities like “topic of the day,” along with shout-outs to celebrate team members who go above and beyond to support others. Every year, we also hold the annual cubesys awards to recognise outstanding contributions across the team.

Engaging with Industry Standards in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At cubesys, we aim not only to foster a culture of inclusion within our own teams but also to meet and exceed industry standards for diversity and equity in technology. Our involvement in programs such as the Women in Leadership Program (WILD) underscores our commitment to contributing to industry-wide change. By aligning our practices with initiatives endorsed by leading Australian tech associations, we actively support the development of underrepresented talent in tech and ensure our DEI standards reflect the best practices of the industry.

Looking to the Future

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is not just a present focus but a central part of cubesys’ future. We pledge to keep evolving our practices, hold ourselves accountable, and continue building an environment where everyone can thrive. As we grow, we remain steadfast in our mission to foster a workplace that values, respects, and empowers every individual. Together, we can achieve a truly inclusive culture where everyone succeeds.

As we continue to grow, we’re committed to keeping diversity and inclusion at the forefront of everything we do. It’s not just about numbers—it’s about building a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. Our strength lies in our differences, and we’re excited to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve together.
