Merivale Transforms Remote Work with Azure Virtual Desktop and cubesys

Merivale partnered with cubesys to modernise their remote desktop systems and improve the structure and management of its cloud environment in Microsoft Azure.

Background
Merivale recognised the opportunity to modernise its remote desktop platform by moving beyond its Citrix-based environment. To better support a modern, scalable, and secure workplace, the organisation sought a solution that could deliver applications and desktops more flexibly, streamline day-to-day management, and realise the benefits of cloud-based services.

The Journey to Azure Virtual Desktop
The collaboration began with a proof of concept (PoC) to test Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) as a potential replacement for Citrix.
This test showed AVD could meet Merivale’s needs for remote applications and desktops using its existing cloud environment. Key activities in the PoC included:
- Creating a standard desktop image
- Setting up a pilot AVD environment
- Adding tools to simplify management and automatically scale resources
Following the success of the PoC, Merivale moved forward with a full rollout of AVD.
