Cost-effective remote work solution

Executive Summary

A financial services company required an infrastructure solution to cater to their remote workers. With funding from Microsoft, cubesys implemented Windows 365 (W365) and Nerdio License Optimisation. This allowed the client to improve their operational efficiency, reduce costs, and simplify the management of their virtual desktop infrastructure.

The Customer

The client is a financial services organisation with numerous locations across Australia and New Zealand. They provide uniquely tailored, integrated solutions for people, businesses, government organisations, and institutions that transform and grow as their needs do. The client provides its customers with a single point of contact to oversee their affairs, working collaboratively with others from within the organisation and broader marketplace.

The Problem

The client joined a Microsoft-funded project with cubesys to create an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) solution for a customer. The customer required a W365 solution that can enter hibernation mode for easy access. While they had AVD, it didn’t meet the requirements, and cubesys was chosen to develop a W365 environment based on their previous experience with the customer.

The Solution

The implementation of W365 allowed the customer to access their virtual desktop from any device, at any time, with enhanced security and flexibility. The successful implementation of the solution demonstrated the capabilities of Microsoft’s cloud-based solutions and the expertise of cubesys in executing complex projects.

The client had an existing AVD infrastructure with Nerdio, which allowed for the integration and utilization of W365 with a single pane of glass. This integration made it easy for the customer to manage their virtual desktop environment while taking advantage of the features offered by both solutions. Additionally, Nerdio offered the feature of License Optimization, which helped the customer save money by optimising license usage across their virtual desktop environment.

The application of Nerdio and W365 allowed the customer to improve their operational efficiency, reduce costs, and simplify the management of their virtual desktop infrastructure. The successful implementation of the solution demonstrated the value of partnering with trusted Microsoft partners, such as cubesys and Nerdio, to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions to customers.

The Results

cubesys was able to provide significant benefits to the customer by implementing a solution that allowed them to run a persistent virtual machine 24×7 at a lower cost than traditional AVD. With the integration of Nerdio and W365, the customer could also offload some of the end-user tasks, such as backup, re-provisioning, and power-on, to the user from within the W365 portal. This helped the customer reduce their operational costs while providing greater flexibility to end-users.

The success of this project was due in part to cubesys’ expertise in identifying the right use cases for the customer’s virtual desktop environment. With many years of experience in implementing complex Microsoft solutions, cubesys was able to leverage its expertise to identify the right solution for the customer’s specific requirements. cubesys’ ability to understand the customer’s business needs and align them with the right technology solution was instrumental in making this deal happen.

The close collaboration between cubesys and the customer allowed for a detailed assessment of the customer’s requirements, which in turn enabled cubesys to identify the right solution for the customer. Overall, cubesys’ deep expertise in Microsoft solutions was critical in making this deal happen, delivering significant benefits to the customer and demonstrating the value of partnering with a trusted Microsoft partner.
